How to Use Beeswax Wraps: A Natural, Reusable and Plastic-Free Solution

Gotta love a food wrap that's 100% natural, reusable, and plastic-free! Beeswax wraps are a fantastic way to keep your food fresher for longer, while reducing waste. Typically made of 100% cotton, beeswax, jojoba oil, and tree resin, these wraps are an earth-friendly alternative to plastic wrap.

Here’s a comprehensive guide on how to use, and care for your beeswax wraps.

Step 1: Activate

Activate your wrap using the warmth of your hands. This will help the wrap adhere to itself and create a seal around your food. The natural ingredients soften with the heat from your hands, making the wrap pliable and sticky enough to mold around containers and food items.

Step 2: Wrap

Place your beeswax wrap around produce, bowls, containers, snacks, bread, cheese, and more! The flexibility of the wrap allows it to conform to various shapes and sizes, creating an airtight seal that keeps your food fresh. Whether you're covering a half-eaten avocado, or wrapping a sandwich for lunch – beeswax wraps are versatile and reliable.

Step 3: Wash

Once you’ve finished using your wrap you can wash it, and reuse over and over again!

Follow these simple washing instructions:

  1. Brush off Residue: With a damp cloth, clear off any food residue from the surface of your beeswax wrap.
  2. Cold Water is Key: Use cold water to wash your wraps. Hot water could melt the surface of the wrap, and damage it!
  3. Give a Gentle Scrub: Wash with cold, soapy water and scrub gently with a washcloth to clear away any stubborn food residue.
  4. Lay Your Wrap to Dry: Lay, or hang your wrap to dry, then store in a cool, dry place until you have reason to use it again.

Step 4: Store, and Repeat!

Store your clean wraps in a cool, dry area away from direct sunlight or heat sources. This will prolong the life of the product and keep them ready for next use. A drawer, or basket in the pantry works well for storage. Repeat the process, and enjoy the benefits of a natural, reusable food wrap that helps reduce plastic waste.

Eco-Friendly Benefits of Beeswax Wraps

Beeswax wraps are not only a practical solution for food storage, but also offer several eco-friendly benefits:

  • 100% Natural Materials: Made from cotton, beeswax, jojoba oil, and tree resin, beeswax wraps are biodegradable and compostable, making them an excellent choice for reducing your carbon footprint.
  • Reusable: Unlike single-use plastic wraps, beeswax wraps can be used multiple times, reducing waste and saving money in the long run.
  • Sustainable: The ingredients used in beeswax wraps are sustainably sourced, supporting ethical and environmentally-friendly practices.

By switching to beeswax wraps, you're making a positive impact on the environment while keeping your food fresh and flavorful. Embrace the change, and enjoy the benefits of this sustainable kitchen essential!
